There’s something truly magical about fall maternity photoshoots, especially when the whole family is involved! The crisp air, the vibrant hues of autumn leaves, and that unmistakable golden sunlight create the perfect backdrop for capturing such a special time in a family’s journey.

We recently headed out to a sun-drenched field to celebrate this beautiful "in-between" season—not just the change of leaves, but the change in our family as we prepare to welcome a new little soul.

Chasing the Glow

If you’re a fan of lifestyle maternity photography, you know that the "Golden Hour" isn't just a photography term—it’s a feeling. As the sun dipped low, it caught the orange and amber leaves of the towering oaks, casting a warm, dreamy glow over everything.

I opted for a comfortable yet classic autumn look:

More Than Just a "Bump" Shoot

While the close-up shots of tiny hands on a growing belly are always some of my favorites (there’s just so much love in one frame!), the real joy was in the movement.

Whether we were lifting our toddler into the air or sharing a quiet moment looking out over the field, these photos captured the authentic connection of our family. Seeing our son’s laughter as he gets "sandwiched" between mom and dad’s kisses reminds me that while we are adding a new member, the foundation we’ve built is already so full.

Big Brother Duties

One of the best parts of a family maternity photoshoot is documenting the transition for the soon-to-be "big brother." Instead of stiff poses, we focused on play:

Capturing the pure joy of being tossed in the air by Mom and Dad.

Sweet kisses and "sandwich" hugs where the toddler is the center of the world—for just a little while longer.

Those unscripted moments of curiosity as he explores the fallen leaves.
