Boldness & Bloom: Amberly’s Senior Portraits at Hannibal Square

There is a specific kind of magic that happens when you step behind the camera for someone you love. As Amberly’s step-mom, I see her beauty every single day, but capturing her Senior Portraits in the heart of Winter Park felt like seeing her in a whole new light. We spent the afternoon wandering through Hannibal Square, and I am so excited to finally share these highlights on The Darling Diaries.

Hannibal Square has this effortless, Mediterranean elegance that felt like the perfect match for Amberly’s spirit—classic, vibrant, and full of life.

Sun-Drenched Style & UCF Pride

We wanted this gallery to feel as multidimensional as she is. Amberly has this incredible ability to be both a "white-eyelet-dress" dreamer and a powerhouse student ready to take on the world.

The Signature Winter Park Look: I am obsessed with how her blue and white floral dress popped against the iconic Spanish tiles and the sun-drenched stucco walls. It felt like a summer afternoon in Italy right here in Florida.

The Milestone Moment: There is nothing like the feeling of putting on that cap and gown for the first time. Seeing her "2025" tassel catch the light against the climbing ivy was definitely a "proud parent" highlight for me.

Future Knight: We wrapped things up with a huge dose of school spirit! Seeing her in her UCF gear, waving that black and gold pennant, made it all feel so real. She is officially ready to Charge On!

A Note for My Bold Step-Daughter

Amberly, as I looked through these photos, I kept coming back to this quote by Sue Monk Kidd. It perfectly captures the fire I see in you:

“Go make your big beautiful dent, and as you do so come down on the side of boldness. If you err, may it be for too much audacity, and not too little. For you really are enough. You have untold strengths and resources inside. You have your glorious self.”

My wish for you as you head off to university is that you never shrink yourself down. Go make that dent. Be audacious. Trust that everything you need to succeed is already inside you. You truly are enough.

Senior Session Inspiration: Why Hannibal Square?

If you’re looking for Winter Park senior photo locations, Hannibal Square is a hidden gem. While Park Avenue is lovely, the Square offers:

Textural Backdrops: From the wrought-iron gates to the lush, climbing greenery.

The Light: The way the sun bounces off the light-colored buildings creates a natural reflector effect that is a photographer's dream.

A Quiet Vibe: It allows for a more relaxed session, which really lets a senior's natural personality shine through.

Congratulations, Amberly! Your future is as bright as that Florida sun.
