Low Notes & High Hopes: Kaleb’s Tuba-Filled Senior Session

There is something so incredibly special about a senior session that highlights a student’s true passion. When Kaleb told me he wanted to feature his tuba in his senior portraits, I knew we were in for a day of great music, even better lighting, and a whole lot of personality!

For Kaleb’s shoot, we headed out to some of my favorite rustic spots where the mossy oaks and sun-drenched paths created the perfect backdrop. As a photographer, I’m always looking for that "golden hour" glow, and the way the light hit the polished brass of Kaleb’s instrument was absolutely magical.

A Symphony in the Sunshine

Kaleb is a natural in front of the lens. Whether he was leaning against a weathered wooden fence or finding a quiet spot on a leaf-strewn trail, his easy-going spirit made the session a breeze. But the real showstopper? Seeing him in his element with that tuba!

We took some classic "standing tall" shots on a quiet stretch of road, but I think my absolute favorites are the ones where he’s sitting right on the pavement, cradling the instrument. It perfectly captures that bond between a musician and their craft—that mix of dedication, talent, and just a touch of "cool."

Making Memories (and Music)

Beyond the instrument, we made sure to capture Kaleb’s signature style—long hair, a sharp black button-down, and a smile that truly lights up a frame. We wandered through the palms and Spanish moss, finding those little pockets of Florida beauty that make senior photos feel like a timeless keepsake.
