There is something so incredibly soul-filling about watching a family grow through my lens. I first met this beautiful crew when they moved to Florida, back when Bronson was just a tiny heartbeat in his mama’s belly. Seeing them again for his first birthday milestone session felt like catching up with old friends—only now, those friends have a walking, cake-loving one-year-old in tow!

As a Central Florida family photographer, I live for these golden-hour moments where the light is as warm as the love between siblings. This session was a beautiful mix of "One Lucky Duck" birthday magic and the sweet, unscripted joy of a family that truly pours into one another.

Sisters and Their Best Friend: A Sibling Bond

If you want to see what pure devotion looks like, just look at Bronson’s big sisters. Throughout our entire lifestyle family session, these two were his biggest cheerleaders. There is a very specific kind of magic that happens when a baby brother is doted on by two older sisters.

The girls spent the afternoon showering him with hugs, leaning in to catch his giggles, and making sure he felt like the center of the universe. It’s clear that Bronson isn't just their little brother; he is truly their favorite person. Capturing those tender, unscripted moments—the way they hold his hands or look at him with such pride—is exactly why I fell in love with lifestyle photography. It’s about the heart of the home, brought outdoors into the moss-draped Florida oaks.

One Lucky Duck is One!

After we captured some updated family portraits (don't they all look stunning in those coordinated blues and denims?), it was time for the main event: The "One Lucky Duck" Cake Smash.

Mr. Bronson was the absolute star of the show. From his tiny Carhartt beanie and camo-print shirt to his classic denim overalls, he looked every bit the part of a little outdoorsman. We surrounded him with his favorite mallard plushies, a giant "1" balloon, and a delicious little bundt cake that he wasn't quite sure about at first!

Watching a one-year-old navigate their first birthday portraits is always a highlight for me. Bronson was so sweet and curious, poking at the frosting while his big blue balloon danced in the breeze. These milestone photos are so important because they capture that fleeting, wide-eyed wonder right before they trade crawling for running.
