Sunbeams & Squeezes: A Golden Afternoon with the Schultz Crew in Oviedo

There are some sessions that just feel like a deep breath of fresh air, and spending the afternoon with the Schultz family was exactly that. We headed out to one of my favorite hidden gems in Oviedo—a wide-open field that looked like it was plucked straight out of a storybook—to soak up that iconic Florida golden hour.

From the second they stepped out of the car, I knew we were in for something special. There’s a specific kind of warmth this family carries; it’s in the way they look at each other and the effortless way they just fit together.

Cuddles, Curls, and Creamy Neutrals

Can we just take a moment for their wardrobe? I always tell my families that you can’t go wrong with a neutral palette, and the Schultzes proved why. Between Mom’s stunning tiered maxi dress and the kids' cozy knits and linen button-downs, the textures were a photographer's dream.

But beyond the outfits, it was the connection that stole the show:

The "Big Sister" Energy: Watching the girls spin and giggle together in the tall grass was pure magic.

Shoulder Rides & Scavenger Hunts: Dad was the ultimate sport, hoisting the littlest Schultz up high so she could see the world from the best seat in the house.

The "Middle" Moments: My absolute favorite shots weren't the ones where everyone was looking at me—it was the ones where the kids were tackle-hugging Mom and Dad’s legs or whispering secrets to each other.

That Florida "Fall" Glow

People often ask me why I love shooting in these overgrown Oviedo fields. It’s because when that sun starts to dip toward the treeline, it wraps everything in a haze of amber and gold. It turned the Schultz’s session into something that felt less like a "photoshoot" and more like a family sunset stroll.

Seeing the kids' faces light up as they explored the brush reminded me why I do this. It’s about freezing these fleeting ages—the missing teeth, the tiny hand-holds, and the way they still think Mom and Dad are the coolest people on the planet.

"The days are long, but the years are short." Looking at these images of the Schultzes, you can really feel the weight of that truth. These are the memories they’ll look back on decades from now, remembering exactly how the grass felt against their shins and how much they were loved.
