Sunsets, River Breezes, and Sweetest Snuggles | Welcome Home, Baby Elliot John

There is something almost poetic about capturing a family’s newest chapter right where their story actually unfolds. No stiff backdrops, no stressful travel—just the quiet, sun-drenched comfort of home. Recently, I had the absolute pleasure of spending a morning with the Nelsen family at their stunning riverfront home off the Banana River to welcome little Elliot John.

If there’s a better way to start a life than with a Florida river breeze and a whole lot of love, I haven't found it yet!

Trading the Studio for the Soul of the Home

Instead of posed studio shots, we leaned into the messy, beautiful reality of those first few weeks. The Nelsens' home was practically a character in the story, filled with natural light and the kind of personal touches you just can't recreate in a rented space.

We focused on the genuine, candid moments that usually pass by in a blur:

The Snuggle Fest: Soft, sleepy cuddles on the big bed.

The Nursery Gazes: Those quiet, "I can’t believe you’re ours" looks Mom and Dad shared over the crib.

The "Big Brother" Magic: Watching Elliot’s older brother navigate his new role was a highlight—from curious little peeks to those infectious, excited giggles.

Where the River Meets the Heart

Living on the Banana River is a vibe all its own, and we couldn't resist incorporating that serenity into the session. We started with the beautiful light streaming through the windows and eventually wandered out onto their private dock.

There is something so peaceful about a tiny newborn nestled against his parents with the tranquil river as a backdrop. Those shots aren't just portraits; they’re a timeless testament to a family blossoming in their most cherished space.

Why Lifestyle Photography Wins Every Time

Lifestyle newborn photography is about more than just a "perfect" pose. It’s about preserving the feeling of this fleeting time:

"It’s the tiny, dramatic yawns, the sleepy mid-air stretches, and the overwhelming sense of peace that fills a house when a new baby arrives. It’s about capturing the realness, not just the 'smile for the camera' version."

It was a true honor to witness the Nelsen family’s love firsthand. Baby Elliot John, you are one lucky little guy to have this riverfront view and such a wonderful crew behind you!

Are you dreaming of a stress-free newborn session in your own sanctuary?

I’d love to help you capture your "right now" before it changes.
